Bill Blampied is a Sydney-based ceramic artist. His practice has a focus on the interplay between text and image, where the relationship and context are deliberately stripped away. The unclear connection prompts the viewer to search subjectively for meaning.
The works are innately tied to memory, phrases overheard at dinner, on busses, from friends at 2:00 am. Photographs are reduced to intimate and spare line drawings. In this way, bill treats the ceramic form as a canvas.
